Blue goose
Although there are many colour variations, the only colour officially recognised for this breed is blue. However, the term "blue" is somewhat misleading. These geese are characterised by a range of plumage hues that varies between blue-grey and grey, with a soft bluish shimmer.
Quack of all trades
The Franconian goose contributes to agriculture in many ways. The breed is raised for its excellent meat, eggs and soft down. They are also quite hardy and only require little supplementary feed, provided there is sufficient pasture for grazing. Additionally, Franconian geese are known for their vigilance and can be used effectively as guard animals on any farm.
This domesticated breed has a rich history in Franconia and is often served at traditional festivals.
