Effective communication
The moustached guenon can vocalise a range of sounds to communicate with other members of its group. Juveniles, for example, use a soft, trilling call in descending pitch when interacting with older animals. The moustached guenon also communicates with a variety of facial expressions. When two rivals meet, they raise their eyebrows as a threat gesture and stare at each other intently.
Moustached monkey
Both the males and females have a dark blue face. The moustached guenon derives its name from the bright white stripe located between the nose and upper lip that resembles a moustache.
The moustached guenon can leap up to 20 m from branch to branch, while using their long tail to steer them.
