Easter is always a popular time for families to visit the zoo to see their favourite animals. Many of the residents have been very productive over the past winter, resulting in a real baby boom at the zoo this spring. Visitors will therefore have the opportunity to discover a new batch of adorable offspring in the various enclosures around the zoo over Easter. And there’s a lot to see: from newborn kangaroos to two greater kudu calves, a Reeves's muntjac fawn to the baby maras who have recently moved into the South America geo-zone at the zoo. There are also new additions to petting zoo. Children will be able to meet and pet the baby Bulgarian and Girgentana goats - provided the animals allow it.
“Mum Maya and dad Heinz gave us another Latin American highlight. Once again, they have given birth to a baby sloth this year. The little one loves hanging under the ceiling in our Rhino House at Hellabrunn, and is therefore not easy to spot," says Rasem Baban, zoological director of Hellabrunn Zoo. "We can finally welcome our visitors to Hellabrunn at Easter again without any major restrictions and wish everyone a wonderful holiday."
In addition to the spring atmosphere and the many newborn baby animals at Hellabrunn Zoo, visitors can also enjoy a range of fun activities on offer over the public holidays from Good Friday to Easter Monday, including an exciting Easter egg and bunny hunt: wooden Easter eggs and Easter bunnies are hidden in some animal enclosures. The task is to find all of them. Participants who enters the correct number of hidden Easter objects on the Easter hunt card provided at the ticket window and deposit it into one of the boxes at the exits have a chance to win attractive prizes, such as a 1-day ticket, an annual pass or one of the last remaining copies of the limited edition photo book about baby elephant Otto. You’ve got to be in it to win it!
And since Easter is a time to celebrate with the family, the zoo’s main restaurant is offering a delicious Easter brunch for hungry animal lovers. Visitors can recharge their batteries with a sumptuous buffet and a flat-rate hot drink before continuing their discovery tour through Hellabrunn – available mornings from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. Booking in advance is recommended for the Easter weekend.
